June 2018 letter
Summer is here - complete with Bank Holiday thunderstorms - and there's a concert of Summer Suites from the Taunton Sinfonietta coming up! Please come and join us, on Saturday 23rd June, in St. James' Church, Taunton TA1 1JS, to hear music from England, Romania, Denmark and Germany.
John Ireland's "A Downland Suite" portrays the composer's beloved Sussex Downs; Bartok's lively and evocative Romanian Dances are justly popular, full of energy and singable tunes; Nielsen's Little Suite for Strings was his first (well justified!) success as a young composer; and Bach's Triple Violin Concerto BWV1064 is a reworking of his Concerto for Three Harpsichords, which should be interesting, as well as beautiful!
Tickets are available from Taunton Visitor Centre (01823 340470), online (www.tauntonsinfonietta.org.uk) or at the door.
On another matter - to comply with the new GDPR legislation, we need to let you know that the data we hold about you in our system are simply your name and postal address. This will only be used by us to contact you about forthcoming events and concerts, and not given to any third party. You do not need to do anything. However you can ask to see what we hold about you, or to ask for it to be deleted, at any time - just contact me, or our Chairman Robin Carpenter.
We look forward to welcoming you on 23rd June, and send our best wishes.

P.S. Robin Carpenter has had his shoulder surgery, and is in fine form… he's optimistic about the outcome, and hopes to be playing his cello with his usual energy and skill before very long - we wish him a continued, brisk recovery! A.B.
