Great things to Come - newsletter

Dear supporter

Here we are in September suddenly, after a wet August spent waiting for the sun... and here to cheer are the remaining two concerts in the 2015 programme of the Taunton Sinfonietta!

On Saturday 26th September in Temple Methodist Church, TA1 3PY at 7.30pm the soprano singer Amy Carson will join the Orchestra in a selection of Handel Arias, including the ever-popular motet "Nulla in mundo pax sincera". After growing up in Taunton, singing in Salisbury Cathedral's first Girls' Choir, and studying in Cambridge and London, Amy is carving out a promising career nationally. The concert also features the cello, with Chris Sampson and Luke Millard playing concertos by Vivaldi and Georg Mathias Monn. Works also included are Torelli Concerto Grosso op.8 no.6, Arthur Foote's Suite for Strings, and Bach Brandenburg Concerto no.3.
A fine, mainly Baroque, programme - which will be repeated at Bridport Arts Centre DT6 3NR on Sunday afternoon 27th September at 3pm (box office tel.01308 424204 or online www.bridport-arts.com).

On Sunday afternoon 29th November at 3pm, also at Temple Methodist Church, we feature Taunton Young Musician 2015, the brilliant flautist Victoria Creighton; she will play C P E Bach's Flute Concerto in Dminor. Also included will be Haydn Symphony no.34 in Dminor, Handel Concerto Grosso op.3 no.2, Mozart Violin Concerto in G (soloist Mary Eade) and J C Bach Sinfonia Concertante in A.

Tickets for Taunton concerts are available from the Taunton Visitor Centre which has now moved to the Market House, Fore St. (tel 01823 340470)

As for 2016, the dates are Sunday 14 February at 3pm in St James' Church,
"Fit for St. Valentine"; Saturday 7 May at 7.30 in St. James' Church, a chamber concert; Saturday 25 June at 7.30 featuring solo singer Suzanne Manuell; Saturday 24 September at 7.30 with Colin Parr (clarinet); Sunday 4 December at 3pm, featuring Taunton Young Musician 2016 and Nicola New (French horn).

We look forward to seeing you at some - or all! - of these concerts, and are all agog for 26/27 September weekend with Amy Carson and the two cellists!

With best wishes,
Yours sincerely,
